Sigma Kappa was founded at Colby College in Waterville, Maine on November 11, 1874. The Beta Upsilon chapter was founded at Ohio University in 1949. Their motto is "One Heart, One Way".
Sigma Kappa, also known as SK or SigKap, proudly serves the Alzheimers Association, Sigma Kappa Foundation, Inherit the Earth, Maine Seacoast Mission, Gerontology as its philanthropies. OHIO's chapter hosts multiple philanthropy events such as Kappa Conies and a pancake breakfast.
Sigma Kappa's symbol is the dove, their colors are maroon and lavender, and their flower is the purple violet.
Their values are personal growths, friendship, service, and loyalty.
A Sigma Kappa tradition is their Alzheimer’s Walk, which is a philanthropy event hosted in the fall semester.
